SOCOM Timberwolf
Can someone explain this to me? It looks like a Glock top on a old style Smith & Wesson frame. No comfy grip or ergonomics to speak of. It doesn't even look like it fits together correctly...like someone put a small-size upper on a too-big frame.
I'm guessing this is a copy of something in the real steel world, but I'm not familiar with it. I also don't get why anyone would want the original, so why make a copy...

If this is following SOCOM Gears other GBB offerings, it appears to be WE Glock clone revamped so SOCOM Gear can avoid a lawsuit from Glock who viciously pursues lawsuits against companies producing Glock clones. From the looks of it, they simply produced a different lower frame and are using a Glock style slide with front serrations.
If it is, the WE G17 is a Marui G17 clone, which means it will feed from Marui Magazines and potentially other Marui parts. Would be interesting to see how this works out for them. I don't much care for the rail, but the grip looks like it might be a comfy fit.
Personally, I would prefer another metal HFC G17. Having owned other brands of Glocks - (KWA, KSC, and KJW) it was my favorite.

Texx,
So you're saying it's not a clone of something in the real steel world...
Have you had time to check out the ATP? I have one and access to lots of different Glock and S&W M&P holsters. I fits nicely into everything I've found to test. It shoots nice, is comfy in the hand (two back-straps) and doesn't look like it was put together by the bride of Frankenstein. It uses the old KWA G17 mags with no problems yet.

Re: SOCOM Timberwolf
Well, it is technically a Glock clone - but like the ATP they have modded it away from the traditional Glock appearance so that it more closely resembles several other designs.
The silhouette is definitely Glock. But it also slightly resembles the S&W M&P. Mind you, Marui is releasing an M&P shortly, so would expect a metal clone to be out shortly afterwards.
I followed the discussion of the ATP development on the KWA USA forums. But have not checked out the gun myself. I still have a sizable collection of 1911 pistols, so right now, another handgun is out of the question.
It does very closely resemble the Diamondback DB380/DB9. But they don't yet market a full size pistol and seem to specialize in subcompact frame autos only.
